- We are connected, ubiquitous(day or night) empowered and visible.
- We are empowered as learners and teachers to learn, create and share.
- It is not just a tool but a way of transforming the way we learn, opens up new uncharted experiences and opportunities.
- Language is essential through keeping conversations going or having those conversations via google meets, blogging, zoom, skype and in an everyday world face to face.
- The New Zealand Technology Curriculum states that technology assists the making of connections by enabling students to enter and explore new learning environments, overcoming barriers of distance and time.
The above has become more apparent lately with the need for distance learning and connecting away from our schools, extended whanau, work and social environments.
There has been appreciation from some of my parents with the engagement and interest that their child shows and delivers through the class online learning site.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
- With support from my manaiakalani facilitator we posted blog class work via photos on slides for the first couple of weeks of distance learning and emailed them to my class whanau.
- Learnt to upload photos from emails, organise and insert onto my class photo page learning site.
- Learnt to add different backgrounds to pages on my site.
- Continuing to make my slide learning work more appealing and exciting for my learners each week by embedding audio, youtube clips, visuals, jip, backgrounds, fonts etc...
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
- Coding Activities from the app Scratch Junior that kids can use on ipads.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
- uploading photos.
- sending photos.
Hello Julia,
ReplyDeleteI can see you are learning so much! I hope you are getting opportunities to practice what you are learning so as to embed the learning and increase your confidence.
I am so impressed with the way you keep going all the time. Well done.
Maria
Julia,
ReplyDeleteIt's it great that we were prepared (to some extend) for this pandemic! Our students are already to fluent in using class sites, accessing learning, creating meaning and sharing on their blogs! Imagine how hard this must be for schools that rely only on pen and paper to continue delivering rich learning programmes for our students.
I would love to hear how your students find Scratch and to see some of their creations. All the best in the exam on Friday.
Venessa
Kia ora,
ReplyDeletegood to hear the parents are giving you feedback on your site.

You have learnt so much in DFI and that combined with distance learning has rocketed you into the digital landscape. Ka pai to mahi!
